Mark T. Dahl, M.D. is the only physician in the upper Midwest who has devoted his practice to Limb Lengthening and Deformity Correction. He is a native of Minnesota, graduating from St. Cloud State University and Mayo Medical School. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Minnesota / Veterans Administration Hospitals. Dr. Dahl spent seven years in general orthopaedics, developing a growing interest in improving the techniques of bone lengthening and correcting severe congenital and traumatic conditions. Repeatedly visiting limb lengthening centers in northern Italy and Ilizarov's Institute in Siberia, gave Dr. Dahl the basis of knowledge needed to treat the complex cases he was seeing. He gradually developed a local, national, and international reputation as a surgeon willing to accept referrals for difficult orthopaedic problems. He has traveled extensively, accumulating knowledge from surgeons worldwide. He gained experience with hundreds of bone lengthening procedures in the late 1980's and early 1990's. He now cares for patients of the Minnesota Limb Length Center at two hospitals; Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare in St. Paul and Fairview - University Medical Center in Minneapolis.
