Nonunion/Bone Loss

Tibial Non-Union Correction

Jason sustained a compound fracture of his tibia from a snowmobile accident. He was referred to the MLLC ten months after this injury with a non-union of his tibia and fibula.

The above drawing illustrates the correction plan using
Ilizarov's technique of straightening the bone through the non-union site, avoiding any open surgery.

The frontal and lateral x-rays taken three weeks after the fixator was applied show completed realignment and early healing.

The x-ray and photo show completed healing with normal function. He wore the fixator for five months, continuing work during this time.
