Acute Subtraction Osteotomy of the Upper Tibial
for Medial Compartment Osteoarthritis.

These x-rays show medial compartment osteoarthritis without ligamentous instability. The patient underwent a conventry type osteotomy to load the lateral compartment using an Intermedics plate and screws to secure the osteotomy. The x-ray on the left shows medial compartment overload with the signs of arthritis. The x-ray on the right was taken intraoperatively showing the precise removal of a predetermined wedge of bone.

Shows the realignment of the leg to unload the inner side of the knee and load the outer side of the knee with the plate and screws securing the osteotomy. The x-ray on the right demonstrates a healed osteotomy with excellent pain relief.
